Amitabh Bachchan the brand ambassador of Gujarat will be soon visiting Saputara in lieu to promote this Gujarat’s hill station. In recent episode of comedy serial Tarak Mehta ka Ulata Chasmash who must heard of Saputara the hill station of Gujarat.

Apart from para-gliding the government is also planning to spend around 100 crore to develop the infrastructure for para-jumping, hot air ballooning and associated aero sports. Attraction and Sightseeing in Saputara

We started our exploration of this sole hill station of Gujarat with Gira Waterfalls around 52 km run to a small town named Wagahai.It is not-to-miss sightseeing spot of Saputara especially between June and November when water is at its full fledge force and entire environment becomes breathtakingly beautiful.The cascading water gels so well with the greenary surrounding that it appears to be the artist’s deliberate strokes to enhance a section of the canvas.

Not very far from our hotel was Saputara Lake. It is positioned in the heartland of Saputara valley perfectly surrounded by mountains and hills generating a scintillating view.It is known for itsfor boating and children parks and playground. All in all it has amusing stuff for everyone.

For animal lovers are is Vansda National Park which harbours wild life such as tigers, leopards, python, four-horned antelope, pangolin, rusty-spotted cats and giant squirrels .Apart from watching the variety of birds and animal, one can also peep into their lives to know more about them. Winters are best time to visit Vansda National Park when forest is at its lush and streams are full of water.Thew park is around 60kms away fro Saputara but Wagahai is the nearest only 4 kms. So the Vansda National Park could be your next visiting place after Giri Waterfalls.

There is also a Forest Nursery run by the forest department in Saputara for the people who are fond of plants and trees.Saplings of fruit trees, flowered plants, creepers and many other trees are showcased here and one can purchase these saplings for a moderate price. All the saplings sold out from here have assured quality.

Saputara also has a Rose Garden where different varities of roses are displayed and sold.Aonther garden named Lake Garden is constructed on the banks of the Saputara Lake is a well known picnic spot in Saputara. So one can spend some lazy hours in the garden after enjoying the boat ride in Saputara Lake.

The list will be incomplete without mentioning the newly constructed Saputara Museum by the Gujarat Government.This museum will give you an introduction to the lifestyle, costumes, heritage and ecology of the tribal Dangs. Although the presentation lacks character, it is worth visiting to learn about many major forms of tribal expression such as a stone funerary column, grass ornaments, stuffed birds, woodcarving, clay ritual objects, body tattoos, and masks used in dance-dramas, and musical instruments. Use it as an opportunity to educate yourself about the local culture before venturing into it in a less mediated way.

Saputara the only Hill Station of Gujarat

When the plains groan under sweltering heat waves, the hills are answer to it. Gujarat the western state of India was always sandwiched between Arabian sea and inhospitable Rann of Kutch where temperature can goes scorchingly high. Ever since its formation in 1660 people of Gujarat were searching for a hill station for some relief from heat. Like Mount Abu was the answer for Rajasthan, Saputara emerged as the only hill station of Gujarat
At an altitude of nearly 1,000 metres from the sea-level, Saputara is located on the Surat-Nashik Road that makes its way through the zigzag hilly terrain. The place has a cool bracing climate, the highest summer temperature being less than 28 degrees Celsius.The hill station is small enough to be entirely covered by foot. perched on a plateau in the Dangs forest area in the Sahyadri range of mountains, offering breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunset.

What took me by surprise was the mystic hide and seek game played by fog and light. The thick fog makes visibility almost impossiable and you blink for a second or two and the entire view is crystal clear.
